How often should I get a massage?

Writer's picture: Nicole MooreNicole Moore

If I just had enough time in a day, I would be getting a massage once a week, However since I do not have time to get a massage once a week. I do go once a month to get a massage. However I have gone more frequently especially with back pain, I need to take care of that so I can give my clients the care that they deserve. I always make sure to take time for myself. My saying is you have to take care of yourself and your body before you can take care or help anyone else. I use the example from the airlines. They always say to apply your oxygen mask first before assisting others. Why? Well that is because you can not assist anyone if you are passed out and unconscious. The same goes for a massage, you have to take care of your body and health before helping someone else.

Massage is recommended for once a month, for general wellness. Yes you can come more and yes you can come less. It definitely varies on your time. I have seen many clients every two months, every month, twice a month, once a week, I have even seen clients three times a week. How do you determine how often to come, that is something we decide after the first visit, and if we are working on a specific issue. I have had clients book for a month out, and then they called me to get in sooner, because a migraine decided to show up, and they still kept there other appointment as well. So all in all massage is recommended once a month, but can always be adjusted based on your needs. Monthly Massage has many benefits that is why it is recommended.

Monthly Massage Can help improve sleep quality, buy relaxing your muscles. (Did you know a 60min massage is equivalent to 6-7 hours of sleep for the body) now doesn’t that sound good. Do you know anyone that could use an attitude adjustment, or always seems in a bad mood, monthly massage can be effective for relieving the symptoms of depression and helps boost your mood. Massage therapy is great for your physical and mental health, it can also help relieve stress and anxiety. Did you know Fibromyalgia has no cure, however the pain is manageable with massage. Ever experience a migraine/headaches, well guess what you are in luck, regular massage can help relieve and even lessen the frequencies of the headaches. Many people suffer with back pain relief, massage can help provide pain relief and healing for people suffering from low back pain caused by muscle tension and strain. Monthly Massage has many other benefits, but overall it can improve your quality of life. Remember to take care of yourself, and its not being selfish or self centered. You matter and in order to take care of others you need to take care of yourself.
