My Journey

Hello Nicole Moore here. I am the Owner of Catching Comfort Massage Therapy. In this section I will tell you about me.

I grew up in Northwest, Indiana approximately 45mins south of Chicago. I attended Saint Josephs College in Rensselear, Indiana with my Bachelors degree in Psychology. I was initially planning on continuing my Psychology by going to UNCG In NC, but when that wasn't going to work out, I decided to attend Massage School at Kneaded Energy School of Massage in Greensboro, NC. I Graduated Massage School In 2015. Met my husband and moved to VA. Where I Started my Massage journey at Massage Envy. However the Past 5 years I have been a massage therapist at the Spa of Colonial Williamsburg and 3.5years out of the 5 years I was the lead therapist. After working for someone for my whole massage career I have decided that it is time to take a leap of faith and open my own practice, Catching Comfort back in June 2021.

Massage

I have two different categories of Massage I book under. Relaxation, and Therapeutic. The reason for these two is to help distinguish which way your treatment will go. The Relaxation tells me that you really dont want a whole lot of pressure this massage is great for those who want stress relief, and Mental Health Disorders. Therapeutic is telling more like you would possibly like stretching, more focus areas, and maybe a little more deep tissue work.
All my massages include aromatherapy inhalation from the diffuser, hot towels, and hot stones on the neck, back, and feet.
Why are my Prices the same 60min/90.00 90min/135.00 and 120min/180.00. This is because every body is so different and it allows me to add deep tissue, stretching, myofascial release, PRRT techniques, and even hot stones, without having to keep adding the price, so from the time you book you know exactly what you are paying.

FAQs

I’m Here for You

What are the benefits of Massage Therapy?

Regular Massage Therapy can help the following.
Lower stress- The long-term effects of stress can take emotional and physical tolls. Massage therapy may relieve stress and conditions associated with it, such as tension headaches.
Increased Immune Function- Medical research indicates that massage therapy can help boost immune system strength by increasing the activity level of the body’s natural “killer T cells,” which fight off viruses.
Boost Mental Health and Wellness-  Research suggests that symptoms of stress, anxiety, and depression (all associated with mental health) may be directly affected by massage therapy.
Pain Management and Improved Range of Motion- Pain can negatively affect a person’s quality of life and impede recovery from illness or injury. Recent findings highlight the role of massage in pain management.
Improved Physical Fitness- Elite and recreational athletes alike can benefit from massage therapy – massage can reduce muscle tension, improve exercise performance, and prevent injuries.

When should I avoid getting a Massage?

In general, there are a few conditions that would prevent you from getting a massage. Of course, do not schedule an appointment if you are feeling unwell, have a fever, cold, or a skin condition that is contagious (such as poison ivy). The first trimester of pregnancy is generally considered off-limits for massage, as are active chemotherapy or other intensive medical treatments. If you have a serious medical condition and you are unsure if a massage would be safe for you, massage therapists will recommend that you speak with your primary care provider to get approval first.

What should I expect from my first Massage session

Your massage therapist will require you to fill out a health history form. They may also ask more in-depth questions to establish which areas you would like focused on, or if there are any specific conditions needing to be addressed. It is important to list all health concerns and medication so that your therapist can adapt your session to your specific needs without causing any harm. It is also important to specify any allergies so that your therapist may adjust the oil or cream being used during your visit.

Do I have to be completely undressed? What do you wear for a massage?

You may undress to your level of comfort. Many people prefer to keep their underwear on during a massage, while others choose to be nude. Your massage therapist will leave the room so you can undress and lie on the massage table under a top sheet. Regardless if you choose to maintain some clothing or not, your massage therapist will always ensure that you are always properly covered.

Will the massage hurt?

In general, massages should not hurt. In fact, if you are in pain during a massage, this may cause your muscles to seize up, making the relaxing effects more difficult to achieve. If the pressure is too intense, speak up immediately so your therapist can adjust.  Certain techniques may result in soreness during the days following a massage, similar to that of a great workout, but in general, you should not have pain during or after your massage.

Do you talk during a massage?

Some people enjoy having a conversation during their massage but keep in mind, the treatment is all about you releasing your tensions and enjoying the experience.  Regardless of your choice, be sure to speak up during the massage if there is anything you’d like adjusted (temperature, pressure, music, etc).

What if I fall asleep and snore or drool?

It is very common for guests to fall asleep during their massage. If you snore or drool, don’t worry.

What if I have body acne, skin conditions, or forgot to shave?

Rest assured, massage therapists have seen and felt it all! Please do not feel uncomfortable or embarrassed. Your massage therapist is focused on creating a relaxing and therapeutic experience for you, and you cannot relax if you are anxious about your body’s appearance. If anything, your therapist may be able to make product or technique recommendations to help alleviate any conditions that may be bothersome to you.

How often should I get a massage?

Individual preference varies, so for most it depends on your pain, physical needs, emotional needs, and of course, budget. Receiving a massage regularly has the most benefit; this can be as often as weekly or monthly.

Massage Therapist has gifted hands. You don’t need to tell her where to work, she finds all the right spots and works them out. Although I typically prefer to have the massage therapist only use their hands, Nicole asked if i would like to try the synergy stones. It honestly felt like she had 5 hands!! The Pressure was perfect and the stones allowed for more deep tissue work that was heavenly. Nicole is very knowledgeable and explained as much as i wanted her to explain. I wish I lived closer. I would book with her monthly. When people find her, she is going to be tough to schedule with because she is going to get busy very quickly. One of the best massages I have ever had!

Nicki is the best massage therapist hands-down. She is kind and also passionate about her care. She is the only massage therapist that I trust, especially with my neck issues. My entire family has gone to her for years and that is a testament to how amazing she is—we love her!

I absolutely loved my massage! Nikki is the best and always knows where my muscles are the most sore or overworked. She does great deep tissue massage just leaving you completely relaxed and never wanting to leave the massage table! I’ve seen her several times and highly consider becoming a monthly regular regular with her. You can’t get better than her! I’m definitely going to see her again soon!

I suffer with chronic pain from RA and 3 herniated discs in my neck. Did deep tissue massage seems to be the best relief. I’ve been trying to find a massage therapist place near Williamsburg. After many appointments with commercial therapist unwilling to help due to my neck I was discouraged and thought that the intense pain would just be a normal part of my life. I found catching comfort through a Google search and hesitantly made an appointment. Nicole was amazing! She did not shy away from my ailments and provided so much needed release for these tight muscles. She is super atentitive to your body and you can search for search and find muscles that need attention, making sure to work your muscles into submission. Thank you Nicole, you have no idea how much this helps!!

Nikki is absolutely delightful! I enjoy receiving massages from her. I suffer from migraines and shoulder problems and this helps me to be more stress-free and loosens up the muscles in my neck and shoulders which helps eliminate and reduce my pain. Can’t say enough about Nikki. Great job, great attitude and would recommend
